Information
A. Introduction
The Color ID Card Printer is equipped with a
standard 8-bit Centronics-type parallel data
communications port. This is the means by which
the printer receives data from your computer. No
options for serial data are available. This section
describes the pin assignments, protocol, and signal
specifications for the parallel data input port.
B. Centronics-
type Parallel
Interface
The Centronics-type parallel interface is the most
widely used printer interface due to its simplicity,
speed, and standardization throughout the PC
industry. The printerÕs parallel interface connector
is a standard 36-pin Amp type with two metal-wire
retaining clips and is ECP (Extended Capabilities
Port) compatible. It mates with a standard PC to
printer parallel cable. Try to keep the interface cable
to under 6 feet if possible.
