Caring for your CD-ROM Drive
Your CD-ROM drive is durable but you
must treat it with care. Please pay attention to the
following points:

The drive rotates the compact disk at a very high
speed. Do not carry it around or subject it to shock
or vibration with the power on.

Avoid using or storing the drive where it will be
exposed to extreme temperatures.
■
Avoid using or storing the drive where it is damp or
dusty.
■
Use of a commercially-available lens cleaner kit is
recommended to maintain the drive lens.
■
Avoid using or storing the drive near magnets or
devices that generate strong magnetic fields.
■
Avoid using or storing the drive where it will be
subjected to shock or vibration.
■
Do not disassemble or dismantle the CD-ROM drive.
PC CARDS
Caring for your PC Card Slots
PC Cards are durable, but you must treat them with
care. The documentation supplied with your PC Cards
provides specific information for caring for the cards.
When you don’t have a PC Card installed in your
system, you should be sure to install the PC Card slot
inserts that came with your system. These will help to
keep dust and dirt out of your system.
