Features Introduction
iRMC with integrated service LAN port
I The features of the iRMC Advanced Video Redirection and Remote
Storage are available as an option.
The iRMC (integrated Remote Management Controller) is a BMC with
integrated service LAN port and expanded functionality that was previously only
available with additional plug-in cards. In this way, the iRMC enables complete
control of PRIMERGY servers, regardless of system status, and thus particu-
larly the control of PRIMERGY servers that are in the "out-of-band" system
status.
By default, the service LAN port is assigned to the iRMC. However, you can also
configure the LAN port as the service LAN port in the BIOS setup. The LAN port
then fulfills the tasks of a standard LAN port and those of a service LAN port at
the same time (virtual LAN with 2 different IP addresses).
Major functions supported by the iRMC include the following:
● Browser access via iRMC's own Web server
● Secure communication (SSH, SSL)
● Power Management for the managed server (depending on its system
status)
● Text console bypass
● Command Line Interface (CLP)
● Simple, interactive or script-based iRMC configuration
● iRMC-s own user management
● Automatic network configuration via DNS / DHCP
● Power supply of the iRMC via the system standby supply
● Full-coverage alarm management
● System Error and Event Log (SEL) reading and processing
More information about the iRMC can be found in the "PRIMERGY ServerView
Suite - integrated Remote Management Controller (iRMC)" manual (see “Liter-
ature” on page 77).
