Remove the hard drive (see

13. Remove the top cover (see

When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the
defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:
Memory module (see
Memory module on page 60)
WLAN module (see
WLAN module on page 70)
WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 76)
Modem module (see
Modem module on page 110)
Processor (see
Processor on page 83)
Audio board (see
Audio board on page 112)
Remove the system board:
1. Position the computer right-side up with the front toward you.
2.
Remove the M2.0x3.0 screw on the left of the system board (1).
3.
If this is a 17.3-in computer, remove the single M2.0 x 3.0 screw (2) that secures the optical drive
connector to the base.
NOTE: The 15.6-in computer does not use a separate optical drive connector.
4. Lift the board at an angle (3) and remove the optical drive extender (4).
5. Slide the board partially out of the base pan (5).
