Getting Started
Out of the Box
Verify that the carton contains the following items:
• Dolphin 9700 mobile computer (the terminal)
• Main battery pack
• Quick Start Guide
Note: If you ordered accessories for your terminals, verify that they are also included with the order.
Be sure to keep the original packaging in the event that the Dolphin terminal should need to be returned
for service. For details, see Product Service and Repair on page 16-1.
Step 1. Install the Main Battery Pack
Dolphin 9700 model terminals are designed for use with battery pack models 200003231(Li-ion 7.4V,
12.0 watt hour) and 9700-BTEC (Li-ion 7.2V 14.4 watt hour) manufactured for Honeywell International
Inc. The 9700 is shipped with the battery packaged separate from the unit. Follow the steps below to
install the main battery.
Ensure all components are dry prior to placing the battery in the terminal. Mating wet components
may cause damage not covered by the warranty.
1. Release the hand strap near the base of the terminal making it easier to access the battery door.
2. Remove the battery door by releasing the door latch and pulling up with a hinging motion.
3. Insert the battery into the battery well.
4. Replace the battery door. Apply pressure to engage the door latch.
Note: The battery door must be installed prior to powering the unit.
5. Reattach the hand strap.
We recommend use of Honeywell Li-Ion battery packs. Use of any non-Honeywell battery may result
in damage not covered by the warranty.
