Solution: If the power-on password prompt appears when you turn on your
computer, a power-on password is set. If the supervisor password prompt
appears when you press F1 to access the IBM BIOS Setup Utility, the
supervisor password is set. Type the correct password and press Enter to use
the computer (see the onboard help, Access ThinkPad). If you still have a
problem, have the computer serviced.
Attention: You might want to note your password and keep it in a safe
place. If you forget your supervisor password, IBM will not reset your
password. You must take your computer to an IBM reseller or IBM marketing
representative to have the system board replaced. Proof of purchase is
required, and a fee will be charged for parts and service.

Solution: If the hard disk password prompt appears, a hard disk password is
set.
Type the correct password and press Enter to use the computer (see the
onboard help, Access ThinkPad).

an IBM reseller or an IBM marketing representative to have the hard disk
