Replacing the optical drive for ThinkPad L530 models
An optical drive is preinstalled in the optical drive bay. To replace it, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer, then disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. Wait for
three to ve minutes to let the computer cool before you start the following procedures.
2. Remove the battery. See “Replacing the battery” on page 69.
3. Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.
4. Loosen the screw that secures the drive and remove it.
5. Press the edge of the drive outwards, using the tip of a thin screwdriver as shown in the drawing and
then pull out the optical drive.
