Configuring Windows Administrator
Broadcast Search
The Broadcast Search function is used to
locate all NPorts that are connected to the
same LAN as your computer.
Since the Broadcast Search function
searches by MAC address and not IP
address, all NPorts connected to the LAN
will be located, regardless of whether or
not they are part of the same subnet as the
host.
The Broadcast Search window will open and display the Model, IP
Address, MAC Address, and Progress (of the search for that
particular device).
When the search is complete, the Broadcast
Search window closes, and the NPorts that
were located are displayed in the right pane
of the Administrator window.
For the example shown here, NPort
Administrator found 7 NPort Serial Device
Servers on the LAN. As you can see, 2 of
the 7 NPorts have password protection,
which is indicated by Lock under Status.
To configure one of the listed NPorts, place
the cursor over the row displaying that
NPort’s information, and then double click.
Before modifying an NPort’s configuration, use Broadcast Search or Specify by IP Address to
locate NPorts connected to the LAN.
