Redundant Port Status
This field indicates the current status of redundant ports. The state is “Forwarding” for normal
transmission, “Blocked” for transmission that is stopped if this port is the backup path, and “Link
down” for non-connection.
Ring Coupling
Indicates if the Ring Coupling function is “Enabled” or “Disabled.”
Coupling Port Status
This indicates the current status of coupling ports. The state is “Forwarding” for normal
transmission, “Blocked” for transmission that is stopped if this port is the backup path, and “Link
down” for non-connection.
At the bottom of the page, the user can configure this function’s “Settings.” For Turbo Ring, the

The STP/RSTP Concept
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) was designed to help reduce link failures in a network, and provide
protection from loops. Networks that have a complicated architecture are prone to broadcast
storms caused by unintended loops in the network. MOXA EDS-518A’s STP feature is disabled
by default. To be completely effective, you must enable RSTP/STP on every EDS-518A
connected to your network.
