onceonlyavailablewithPSTNorPBXtelephony.EventhoughtheH.450standardrefersonlytoH.323,
SupplementaryServicesarestillappli cabletotheSIPandSPPVOIPprotocols.
ThreeofthefeaturesimplementedunderSupplementary
Servicesarecloselyrelated.
● CallTransfer.CallTransferallowsonepartytore‐connectthepartywithwhomtheyhavebeenspeakingto
athirdparty.Thefirstpartyisdisconnected whenthethirdpartybecomesconnect e d.Aprogrammable
phonekeypadsequence—forexample,#7—allowsthefeaturetobeused.
● CallHold.CallHoldallowsonepartytomaintainanidle(non‐talking)connectionwithanotherpartywhile
receivinganothercall(CallWaiting),whileinitiatinganothercall(CallTransfer),orwhileperformingsome
othercallmanagementfunction.Aprogrammablephonekeypadsequence—forexample,#7—allowsthe
featuretobeused.
● CallWaiting.CallWaitingnotifiesanengagedcallerofanincomingcallandallowsthemtoreceiveacall
fromathirdpartywhilethepartywithwhomtheyhavebeenspeakingisputonhold.Featureisusedbya
programmablephonekeypadsequence(forexample,#7).
CallName
IdentificationissimilarbutnotidenticaltothepremiumPSTNfeaturecommonlyknownasCallerID.
CallNameIdentification.WhenenabledforagivenVOIPunit(the‘home’VOIP),thisfeaturegivesnoticeto
remoteVOIPsinvolvedincalls.NotificationgoestotheremoteVOIPadministrator,nottoindividualphone
stations.WhenthehomeVOIPisthecaller,aplainEnglishdescrip torissenttotheremoteVOIPidentifyingthe
channeloverwhichthecallisbeingoriginated(forexample,“CallingParty‐OmahaSalesOfficeLine2”).Ifthat
VOIPchannelisdedicatedtoacertainindividual,thedescriptorcouldsay
that,aswell(forexample“Calling
Party‐HaroldSmithinOmaha”).WhenthehomeVOIPreceivesacallfromanyremoteVOIP,thehomeVOIP
sendsastatusmessagebacktothatcaller.ThismessageconfirmsthatthehomeVOIP’sphonechanneliseither
busyorringingorthata
connectionhasbeenmade(forexample,“BusyParty‐OmahaSalesOfficeLine2”).
ThesemessagesappearintheStatistics–CallProgresswindowoftheremoteVOIP.
CopyingParameterstoOtherChannels
Supplementaryservicesparametersareappliedonachannel‐by‐channelbasis.However,afteryouestablisha
setofsupplementaryparametersforaparticularchannel,youcanapplythisentiresetofparameterstoanother
channel.Todoso:
1. ClickCopyChannel.
2. Inthedialogboxthatopens,tocopyasetofparameterstoallchannels,selectCopytoAll.
3. ClickCopy.
