A
Make sure that all previously existing (stock) OpenFabrics RPMs are
uninstalled. See “Removing Software Packages” on page 5-33 for more
information on uninstalling. If you are using RHEL5, make sure that
opensm-* is manually uninstalled. See “Version Number Conflict with
opensm-* on RHEL5 Systems” on page A-4 for more information.
Among the many optional packages that each distribution offers, the
InfiniPath software requires openssh and openssh-server and, if the
Multi-Purpose Daemon (MPD) job launcher or the ipath_mtrr script is to
be used, python. These packages must be on every node. Note that in the
SLES 10 distribution, openssh-server is a part of the openssh package.
It is possible to have a cluster running with different kernel versions.
However, QLogic recommends and supports clusters where all nodes run
equivalent software.
Different distributions require different versions of the InfiniPath software
distribution, as described in “Installing the InfiniPath and OpenFabrics
RPMs” on page 5-6.
Downloading and Unpacking the InfiniPath and
OpenFabrics Software
This section assumes that the correct Linux kernel, a supported distribution, and
suggested packages (see “Setting Up Your Environment” on page 5-2) have been
installed on every node.
