Other OFED-installed modules may also be in this directory; these are also
renamed if found during the install process.
Starting the InfiniPath Service
If this is the initial installation of InfiniPath (see “Lockable Memory Error on Initial
Installation of InfiniPath” on page A-7), or if you have installed VNIC with the
OpenFabrics RPM set, reboot after installing.
If this is an upgrade, you can restart the InfiniPath service without rebooting. To
enable the driver, run the command (as root):
# chkconfig infinipath on 2345
Then start the InfiniPath support (as root) by typing:
# /etc/init.d/infinipath start
Complete information about starting, stopping, and restarting the services are in
“Starting and Stopping the InfiniPath Software” on page 5-26.
When all of the InfiniPath and OpenFabrics software has been installed correctly,
the default settings at startup are as follows:
InfiniPath
ib_ipath is enabled.
InfiniPath
ipath_ether is not running until it is configured. See “Configuring
the ipath_ether Network Interface” on page 5-12 for configuration
instructions.
OpenFabrics IPoIB is not running until it is configured. Once enabled, IPoIB
is running in connected mode. See “Configuring the IPoIB Network
Interface” on page 5-17 for configuration instructions.
OFED SRP is not running until the module is loaded and the SRP devices
on the fabric have been discovered.
VNIC is not running until it is configured.
OpenSM is enabled on startup. Either install it on only one node, or disable it
on all nodes except where it will be used as an SM.
Other optional drivers can now be configured and enabled, as described in
“InfiniPath and OpenFabrics Driver Overview” on page 5-11, “Configuring the
InfiniPath Drivers” on page 5-11, and “OpenFabrics Drivers and Services
Configuration and Startup” on page 5-16.
