How can I receive a FAX in Sleep mode (Standby
Mode)?
A ToreceiveaFAXwhenthecomputerisinSleep
Mode(StandbyMode),thecomputermustbe
conguredasfollows.
TheFAXprogrammustbeconguredsothatit
receivesFAXESautomaticallyreferringtotheFAX
programmanual.
Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and
Sound.
Click on Phone and Modem Options.
In the Modemtab,selectaninstalledmodem
andclickProperties.
InthePowerManagementtaboftheModem
Propertieswindow,selecttheAllow the
computer to turn off this device to save
power option and click the OKbutton.
(IfthePowerManagementtabdoesnot
appear,selectChangeSettingsintheGeneral
tab.)
Whenthemodemisconguredasabove,andaFAX
arrives,thecomputerwakesupfromSleepMode
andreceivestheFAX.

A1 <WakeOnLAN>isafunctionthatactivatesthe
system from Sleep mode when a signal (such as
apingormagicpacketcommand)arrivesoverthe
network(wiredLAN).
Using the <Wake On LAN> Function
Click Start > Control Panel > Network and
Internet > Network and Sharing Center >
Manage Network Connections.
Right-clickontheLocalAreaConnectionand
selectProperties.
Click Congure > Power Management
tab.SelectAllow this device to bring the
computer out of standby,thenclickOK.
Restartthesystem.

thereisnoreceivedsignal,usethesystemafter
disablingthe<WakeOnLAN>function.
