Sony provides several support options for your Sony computer. When you have
questions about your computer and the preinstalled software, check these sources
for answers, in the following sequence:
Quick Start
Contains information on how to set up your computer
quickly and easily.
VAIO Computer
User Guide
The User Guide (this manual) contains information on
how to get the most from your computer, find help, and
solve common problems. Also includes product
specifications.
Online (Electronic)
Documentation
QuickStart
and the User Guide are available electronically
on your hard drive. Two additional guides,
Upgrading and
Maintaining Your VAIO® Computer (PCV-J120)
and the
Troubleshooting Help are also available online. To access
online documentation, click the Start button, point to Help
Center, and then point to the desired document.
VAIO Support Agent
VAIO Support Agent can be accessed from the Windows
desktop. Using advanced diagnostic technology, Sony’s
VAIO Support Agent runs scheduled protections of your
applications, network settings, and other important
software settings. When your software is protected, you
can use VAIO Support Agent to repair software problems
by restoring your software to any of the previously
protected states.
Manuals and online help
files that may
accompany your
preinstalled software
Most manuals for preinstalled software are located on your
hard disk drive as online help files. You can access online
help files from the Help menu in a specific application. A
printed manual is available for some applications.
Knowledge Database
Provides instant access to information on commonly
encountered problems. Enter a description of your problem
and the Knowledge Database searches for the
corresponding solutions online. You can access the Sony
Knowledge Database at http://www.sony.com/pcsupport
