Using Your VAIO Computer
Connecting with a cable or satellite set-top box (STB)
You can connect your computer to cable service access that uses a set-top box (cable or satellite). When using the set-top
box (STB) setup, you can only change channels through the STB, using its controls or supplied remote commander.
When using the STB setup:
A standard TV remote control cannot be used to change TV channels. You can use your TV remote control to set the TV
to the channel-out number (channel 3, 4, etc.) or direct video input specified by your cable or satellite service provider.
You may be able to use a universal remote control or commander to change TV channels, if the device is able to control
the STB.
To connect in STB mode (Option 1)
1 Connect the coaxial cable feed connector (1) (supplied) to the RF In jack (2) on the TV tuner bay unit.
2 Connect one end of a TV coaxial cable (3) (not supplied) to your cable service access (wall outlet) (4). Connect the other
end to the VHF/UHF IN jack on the back panel of your set-top box (STB) (5).
3 Connect a second TV coaxial cable (6) (not supplied) to the VHF/UHF OUT jack on your STB unit (5). Connect the other
end to the single-connection end of a splitter device (7) (not supplied).
4 Connect a third TV coaxial cable (8) (not supplied) to the double-connection end of the splitter device (7). Connect the
other end to the coaxial cable feed connector (1) from the TV tuner bay unit.
5 Connect a fourth TV coaxial cable (9) (not supplied) to the double-connection end of the splitter device (7). Connect the
other end to the VHF/UHF port (10) on the rear of your TV monitor or display.
