RTC and Full Flash Memory Option
Printers with the factory installed RTC (Real Time Clock) and Full Flash Memory option
allow you to create highly customizable printer applications, improve printer productivity and
flexibility, and provide extra memory to store more forms, graphics (logos), fonts, and the
large Asian font sets.
The RTC allows the label form developer to include:
Time Date Stamping
Pre or Post Dating
Allows Date/Time date to be included on printed form without altering the form
Provide dates and times without needing to generate them with the host system,
application software or programmatically by another process (e.g. a database report).
The RTC enhances the printer’s ability to operate in a stand-alone configuration (e.g. not
connected to a host or PC). A common use would be to provide a date stamp to a tag, ticket,
label or receipt printed on demand. See Stand Alone Printing on page 43 for more details.
The RTC feature supports both ZPL and EPL printer programming. The two programming
behaviors that display
the time and date are independent of each other. The commands that set
time and date change
them for both printer languages.
The Full Flash Memory provides an additional 8 Megabytes to the printer’s standard
4 Megabytes of printer memory for a total of 12 Megabytes printer memory.
Caution • The optional RTC assembly has a three volt lithium battery. You can discern a low
or flat battery if the printer provides a consistently delayed date stamp. Battery replacement
must be performed by a qualified service technician. Only use a Zebra approved replacement
battery.
Important • Recycle batteries according to local your guidelines and regulations. Wrap the
battery when disposing (or storing) to avoid a short circuit.
DO NOT short circuit the battery. Short circuiting the battery may result in heat
generation, fire or bursting.
DO NOT heat, disassemble or dispose of battery in fire.
