3.9 Synchronising SmartView Multiscreens for applications that
require synchronised switching of more than four monitors
A single SmartView Multiscreen supports up to four monitors. For applications that
require switching of more than four monitors, multiple SmartViews may be
connected together so that they operate in a synchronised manner. Whenever the
SmartView's channel is switched it sends an RS232 command out on its serial
interface. The SmartView switches its channel if it receives the same command on
its serial interface. Consequently, by linking the serial interfaces a master unit may
be made to automatically switch a daisy chain of slaved units as shown in the
diagram below. The slave units will require the optional power adapters because
they cannot draw their power from the video link alone.
The SmartView Multiscreen may also be synchronised together with AdderView
GEM products as their OPTIONS ports operate in the same way.
