Installing The Hard-Drive Backplane
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.
1. Holding the blue release tabs, align the slots on the hard-drive backplane with the securing hooks on the chassis.
2. Push the hard-drive backplane down until the release tabs snap into place.
3. Attach the SAS A cable to the SAS A connector, and the SAS B cable to the SAS B connector on the hard-drive
backplane.
4. Connect the power cable(s) to the hard-drive backplane.
5. Route the power/data cables along the chassis wall.
6. Install the hard drives in their original locations.
7. Close the system.
8. Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on, including any attached peripherals.
