This chapter explains how to remove and replace a disk drive. It is assumed that the reader already has a
through understanding of the replacement of the whole disk drive.
Note the following when removing and replacing a disk drive:
A disk drive must be removed from the host system.
The section numbers in parentheses refer to the previous section.
Install a new disk drive by reversing the removal procedure.
For effective maintenance, abide by the following guidelines:
Removed screws and parts must be placed in a place or container where they will not be lost
or damaged.
All maintenance work must be recorded.
Screws must be tightened, but not overtightened.
To discharge static electricity from the human body, touch the frame (grounding) or wear the
grounding band before touching PCA.

new disk drive, refer to Table 4.1.
