telephone,PBXorCOline.
TheIFMcommunicateswiththemainprocessortoindicate
thestatusofthetelephoneline.Forexample,it
mightindicatethataphon e isoffhook(FXS)orthatanincomingringispresent(FXO).
TheIFMreceivesoperatinginstructionsfromtheVOIP’smainprocessor.Forexample,theIFMmightbe
instructedtoringthephone(FXS)orseize
theline(FXO).TheIFMcontainsacodec(coder/decoder)toconvert
theincomingaudiotoaPCMstream(pulsecodemodulation)whichitsendstotheDSP(digitalsignalprocessor).
TheIFM’scodecalsoconvertsoutgoingPCMtoaudio.
ThefirmwareoftheIFMscanchangeovertime.Assuch,you
mayneedtoupgradethefirmware.Toupgrade
firmware:
1. IntheSystemInformationwindowoftheMultiVOIPConfigurationsoftware,checktheversionnumberof
theIFMfirmwarealreadyinstalledontheMultiVOIP unit.Writedowntheversionnumber.
2. ExittheConfigurationsoftwareprogram.TheMultiVOIPConfigurationprogrammustbeoffwheninvoking
theDownloadIFMFirmwarecommand.Ifitison,thecommanddoesnotwork.
3. TousetheDownloadIFMFirmwarecommand, gotoStart|Programs|MultiVOIPx.xx|DownloadIFM
Firmware.
4. Adialogboxopens.ClickOK.
5. The“Boot”LEDonthefrontpaneloftheMultiVOIPcomeson.
6. ThesoftwaresearchesforanIFMfirmwarefiletousetou pgradethesystem.Ifthefilefoundrepresents
firmwarenewerthanthatalreadyinstalledontheMultiVOIP(orifyouwanttooverwritethesameversion
offirmware)clickOpen.
