Interpreting System Tray Icon Colors
The System Tray (SysTray) resides on one end of the taskbar in the Microsoft Windows desktop.

Use the information below to solve common problems you may encounter. Also, please refer to the
knowledge base on the NETGEAR Web site at www.netgear.com/support/main.asp.
Also, for problems with accessing network resources, the Windows software might not be installed
and configured properly on your computers. Please refer to Appendix C, “Preparing Your PCs for
Network Access” .
Color Condition Description
R ed The wireless P C C ard has no
connection to any other
wireless node.
Th e wireless P C C ard is not ab le to link to any oth er wireless
node or the link is lost. Check your configuration or try moving
to a l oca tion wh e re th e wi re le s s s ig n a l qu a lity is b e tte r.
Yellow The wireless P C C ard has a
connection with another
wireless node.
T h e wire le ss lin k is we a k . Y ou m a y d e e d to m ove to a b e tter
spot, such as closer to the wireless access point. Also, look
for possible interference such as a 2.4 GH z cordless phone or
large m etal surface.
G reen The wireless P C Card has a
connection with another
wireless node.
The wireless P C Card has established good communication
with an access point and the signal quality is strong.
