Combinations and functions with the <Fn> key
* This function can only be used by the first user to log on. It will not work if you have switched to another user account.
Some functions are not available until Windows
®
is launched.
Combinations/ Feature Functions
<Fn> + (F3): speaker switch
Toggles the built-in speaker on and off.
<Fn> + (F4): speaker volume
Adjusts the built-in speaker volume.
To increase volume, hold down the <Fn> key and press <F4> repeatedly.
To decrease volume, hold down the <Fn> and <Shift> keys and press <F4> repeatedly. The
volume is adjusted immediately, without a prompt or popup window as a guide.
<Fn> + (F5): brightness control
Adjusts the brightness of the LCD.
To increase light intensity, hold down the <Fn> key and press <F5> repeatedly.
To decrease light intensity, hold down the <Fn> and <Shift> keys and press <F5>
repeatedly. You can see the brightness changing immediately on the screen.
<Fn> + / (F7)*: switch to the
external display
Toggles between the LCD, external display (connected to the monitor connector) and both
LCD and external display.
<Fn> + / (F8)*
Toggles between the LCD and both LCD and TV.
<Fn> + (ESC) and <Fn> + (F12):
Standby
Puts the system into Standby mode, a power management state. To return the system to
the active state, press any key.
You can choose to use these shortcuts for Hibernate mode (the lowest level of power
consumption) instead. To do this, go to Control Panel > Power Options, and make your
settings on the Advanced tab under Power buttons.
