Optical disc drives
A DVD Super-Multi drive is provided in the computer: This optical drive
uses a serial ATA interface controller for CD and DVD operation and has an
indicator at its front which will glows to indicate that it is in use.
For further information on loading and unloading discs, please refer to the
Using DVD Super-Multi drive section in Chapter 4, Operating Basics.
Region codes for DVD drives and media
DVD Super-Multi drives and their associated media are manufactured
according to the specifications of six marketing regions. When you
purchase DVD Video media you should ensure that it matches the
specification of your drive, otherwise it will not play properly.
Writable discs
This section describes the types of writable CD, DVD media available, and
should be used in conjunction with the specification of your computer/
optical drive in order to understand the type of discs that can be written.
Please refer to Chapter 4, Operating Basics for further information.
CDs
CD-R media can only be written to once - the recorded data cannot
subsequently be erased or changed.
CD-RW media, including multi-speed CD-RW discs, high-speed CD-RW
discs and ultra-speed CD-RW discs, can be recorded to more than once.
