4.2 TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST
If the 6E233-49 SmartSwitch is not working properly, refer to Table 4-2 for a checklist of possible
problems, causes, and recommended actions to resolve the problem.
Table 4-2 Fault Identification
Symptom Possible Causes
All LEDs are off. 1. Installation error - remove 6E233-49 SmartSwitch and perform
installation in accordance with installation instructions. Check
connectors for dust or dirt and clean as necessary.
2. Power system fault - refer to Table 4-3.
Module stays in BOOT
state.
1. Device does not have an operable firmware image, and is
sending out BootP requests in an effort to locate a BootP server
on the network. Press the RESET button on the front panel to
attempt to use the firmware image in FLASH memory.
2. If the problem continues after pressing the RESET button, refer
to Section B.1 for instructions on forcing a BootP image
download.
3. Contact Cabletron Systems if the problem continues.
