Checking and Setting the Telephone
Line
If you are not sure what type of telephone line you have, check with your local telephone
company. To operate the machine, you must know if the machine is connected to a tone or
rotary pulse line.
The machine can be set to operate with either type of telephone line. The machine is set to
operate through a tone line without making adjustments.
Use this procedure to switch the fax setup between tone and pulse dialing.

Open all three one-touch speed dialing panels ➞ press [Data
Registration] ➞ [▼] or [▲] until <3.FAX SETTINGS> appears ➞
press [OK].
If necessary, see the steps 1 to 3 of “Registering the Machine’s Telephone
Number and Unit Name”, on p. 3-4.
