The system lights on the
keyboard provide a quick
status of your computer and
keyboard settings.
Post Office Protocol (POP) is
a commonly used messaging
protocol. The most widely
used implementation of this
protocol is POP3. POP3 is a
retrieval protocol, used to
retrieve mail messages from a
POP server. E-mail messages
received by the POP server
are delivered to a server
mailbox and messages reside
there until you retrieve them.

Understanding the System Status Lights
The system status lights are shown in the following illustration,
and the function of each light is explained.

E-mail indicates when you have e-mail waiting to be read.
Note: This light only works with POP3 Internet services. The light
does not work with proprietary Internet services such as AOL.

Sleep indicates the computer is in the sleep mode.

Num Lock indicates that you can use the numeric key pad to type
numbers.

Caps lock indicates all text typed will appear as capitalised letters.

Scroll lock indicates when the scroll-lock function is engaged,
allowing you to scroll through a document without moving the
cursor.
