Press the k or j buttons until the desired mode is displayed on the LCD
and press ENTER. The current setting is indicated with an asterisk (*). The
following settings are available:
Program Only: The front panel volume control will now only control
the output volume for PROG OUT (and SPEAKER 40W 8 if the
internal amplifier is used).
Speech Only: The front panel volume control will now only control
the output volume for SPEECH OUT.
Pgm/Spch Sel.: The front panel volume control will allow the user to
select during operation if the knob affects the volume of PROG OUT
or SPEECH OUT.
Master Vol.: The front panel volume control will control the master
volume level, raising both the PROG OUT and SPEECH OUT
volumes simultaneously while retaining their current proportional
levels.
NOTE: While setting the Volume Control Mode, the Speech Volume level
can be adjusted by turning the volume control clockwise to raise the
volume, or counterclockwise to lower the volume. When adjusting the
volume, the display will change to indicate the volume level.
Press ENTER to save changes and return to the Speech Output menu. To

The MPS-300 ships with the Volume Control Mode set to the Master Vol. setting.
When switching the Volume Control Mode from the Master Vol. setting to either
the Program Only setting, the Speech Only setting, or the user selectable
Pgm/Spch Sel. setting, the Minimum and Maximum Volume levels for the
SPEECH and PROGRAM outputs must be set to ensure proper operation.
Set the Volume Control Mode to Program Only, Speech Only, or
Pgm/Spch Sel. as described on page 46.
Set the PROGRAM output’s Minimum and Maximum Volume levels to
30% and 70% (respectively) as described in the instructions on page 41.
Set the SPEECH output’s Minimum and Maximum Volume levels to 30%
and 70% (respectively) as described on page 48.
Set the Startup Volume levels for the PROGRAM and SPEECH outputs
to 30% as described on pages 42 and 49.
Set the Master Startup Volume to 100% to obtain the maximum dynamic
range for the installation. Refer to the instructions on page 53.
Raise or lower the Startup Volume levels for the PROGRAM and
SPEECH outputs as necessary. These levels will determine the volume
level of the system each time it is turned on.
If the Volume Control Mode is to be returned to the Master Vol. setting from the
Program Only setting, the Speech Only setting, or the user selectable Pgm/Spch
Sel. setting, the Minimum and Maximum Volume levels for the SPEECH and
PROGRAM outputs must be set to ensure proper operation.
Set the Volume Control Mode to Master Vol. as described on page 46.
Set the PROGRAM output’s Minimum and Maximum Volume levels to
30% and 70% (respectively) as described in the instructions on page 41.
