Challenge Password
Some certification authorities require a challenge password to authorize later changes on
the certificate (e.g. revocation of the certificate). The minimal length of this password is 4
characters.

Email
The email address of a contact person that is responsible for the DKVM-IP1 switch and
its security.
Key length
This is the length of the generated key in bits. 1024 Bits are supposed to be sufficient for
most cases. Longer keys may result in slower response time of the DKVM-IP1 switch
during connection establishment.

The DKVM-IP1 switch Serial Settings (Figure 6-25) allows you to specify what device is
connected to the serial port and how to use it.
Configuration or console login
Do not use the serial port for any special function, use it only for the initial configuration
(see Table 4-1 ).
Modem
The DKVM-IP1 switch offers remote access using a telephone line in addition to the
standard access over the built-in Ethernet adapter. The modem needs to be connected to
the serial interface of the DKVM-IP1 switch .
Logically, connecting to the DKVM-IP1 switch using a telephone line means nothing else
than building up a dedicated point-to-point connection from your console computer to the
DKVM-IP1 switch. In other words, the DKVM-IP1 switch acts as an Internet Service
