13.2 EDP70 PLUS/24/18/12 : Optional Battery Cubicle
The battery autonomy can be increased by employing either one or two optional battery cubicles. Both the
UPS and battery cubicles are similar in appearance, however, there is no display panel in the battery cubicle.
All cabinets (UPS, BATTERIES, TRANSFORMER, PDU, MAINTENANCE BYPASS PANEL, etc.) must be
connected to a grounding system complying with national safety regulations.
Cables connecting the cabinets to the grounding system must be sized according to National
Electrical Code requirements.
The battery cubicle has independent fuse located internally. To connect the battery cubicle to the EDP70
PLUS UPS follow the following procedure:
1. Shutdown the UPS using the procedure set out in section 9. Access the terminal rail.
2. Disconnect the battery connectors of the internal battery, then remove the fuse F2 located behind the
hinged panel, see Figure 31.
3. Be sure that the battery on the cubicle are disconnected. Remove the fuse of the battery cubicle.
4. Wire the cubicle according to the extension battery cubicle wiring instructions and the relevant battery
layout diagram.
5. Replace the fuses F2 both on the cubicle and the UPS, then connect all the intershelves connectors, and
all the panels and restart UPS using the procedure set out in section 7.
