Netcool/Precision for Transmission Networks 5.5 Administration Guide24
Prerequisites
Your system must meet the following requirements:
Most of these features require the Oracle Enterprise Edition. See the Oracle Techweb
descriptions and comparisons of the features provided by Oracle Standard and
Enterprise Editions.
Once the client software has been installed, the server must be configured accordingly.
Configuring the server to use Oracle's OCI driver is a straightforward process.
Oracle RAC
Consider using the Oracle RAC option when a robust high availability solution is required.
A properly configured Oracle RAC environment can tolerate failures with minimal or no
downtime. Furthermore, Netcool/Precision TN can operate seamlessly with an Oracle
RAC database - simply update the connection string in the oracle_config.xml file
appropriately.
See the relevant Oracle documentation for more information on how to configure an Oracle
RAC server.
Connection concentration
The connection concentration feature of the Oracle Connection Manager consolidates
multiple connection requests from clients to establish a single connection to a server. This
conserves server resources. This feature is available in the Oracle Enterprise Edition.
Connection concentration might be desirable when the server shares the database with
many other applications and/or users.
Concentration enables the Netcool/Precision TN server to use fewer connection end-points
for incoming requests, thus reducing the demand on the resources needed to maintain
multiple connections between two processes. Concentration lets you increase the total
number of network sessions that the Oracle database server can handle. By using multiple
Connection Managers, thousands of concurrent users can connect to a server.
Connection concentration requires:

Multi-threaded server enabled
