IBM offers the most secure industry-standard PC
Is your information vulnerable to intrusion and theft? If an unauthorised user sits down at your PC or steals it, is your data
protected?
The benefits of computer security are often discovered
too late - when the cost of not having it becomes painfully
clear. Computers stolen from desktops or employee
vehicles, or even lost on trains or in taxis frequently contain
valuable, confidential company information. Worse, they
are usually set up to access the company network,
Intranet and more.
A lost or stolen computer can put your company’s data in
the wrong hands. It can even expose your entire network
to snooping and electronic theft which can result in huge
financial losses.
The IBM Embedded Security Subsystem, a ThinkVantage Technology, helps protect
valuable data. It works with network security software and third-party options to help
prevent unauthorised access to intellectual capital, contracts, personnel files or
anything else stored on your network. It comes standard on select ThinkPad
notebooks, IBM ThinkCentre and NetVista desktops and can help you avoid the worry,
frustration and cost of unsecured systems.
The hardware and software solution is available only from IBM. It consists of an embedded security chip and downloadable
software which together provide a higher level of security than common software-only security solutions.
The IBM Embedded Security Subsystem allows you to encrypt specific documents on a file-by-file basis on the hard drive, giving
more protection in case of system theft or network intrusion. Or use "on the fly" encryption, where you can pre-select folders so
that files placed in the folder are automatically encrypted.
In addition, the IBM Embedded Security Subsystem features a Password Manager to
remember multiple passwords and store them securely, lowering the volume of
forgotten password calls to your help desk and reducing support costs. Plus, the new
Install Wizard makes setup simple even for novice users.
