The fourth design implemented is the Separator Finger System. With this Separator
Finger System in place, paper feeding is highly reliable. Rollers on the right and left
paper feeding roll have been added to stabilize the paper pick up position and reduce
the number of skewed paper feedings.
PAPER FEEDING RELIABILITY IN THE FUSING SECTION
Several design changes had improved the paper feeding reliability in the fusing section
of the Di1811p/7218 and remain in the bizhub 180. These include:
New Mid Roller in the Fusing Section
Smaller Diameter Fusing Rollers
The mid rollers are located on the paper path in the fusing roller section hold the paper
that exits from the fusing rollers, thus preventing the paper from becoming wavy.
In addition, the paper path has been designed to have a sharper angle with the post
fusing roller section so the paper enter the paper path at a sharper angle. This process
prevents the paper from curling and thus reduces misfeeds.
The Smaller Diameter Fusing Rollers are possible due to the engine speed of the
bizhub 180. The compact design of the fusing section enables these systems
to achieve a warm up time of less than 30 seconds.
IMAGING UNIT RELIABILITY
The reliability of the imaging unit has been improved by employing the following designs:
Photoconductor Back Rotating System
Toner Carrier Diminishing Control
The purpose of the Photoconductor Back Rotating System is to rotate the photoconductor
by 5mm backwards each time the machine completes a print job. This process prevents
the cleaning blade from becoming displaced when the photoconductor rotates
for the next copy job. It also helps to remove all paper and dust residue and improve
the Imaging Unit’s durability.
The purpose of the Toner Carrier Diminishing Control feature is to enable users
to continue making copies even after a signal is activated indicating that the imaging
unit has exhausted its life.
