• The image will be scanned and corrected
according to the specified value (Confirm
Digital GEM effect value).
• For operations after performing the final scan, see page
98.
• When scanning a B&W film, the Digital GEM function is
not available.
• When using the Digital GEM function, be sure to perform
the prescan and adjust focus with the Point AF or
Manual Focus function (see pages 60 to 61) before the
final scan. Putting a checkmark on “Auto Focus at Scan”
in the Preferences (see page 29) is recommended.
• The Digital GEM function may not always operate
effectively depending on the condition of the film.
• Much more time is required for scanning when the
Digital GEM function is turned on compared with when
that function is turned off.
• You can use the Digital GEM function for the following
types of B&W film only after the film has been developed
in colour and scanned with the “Colour Negative” setting
for the film type. We cannot assure this procedure for
other types of film.

6. Change the Confirm Digital GEM effect area size
or move that area if necessary and specify the
image area to be checked.
• The Digital GEM check area is specified in the centre of
the image and the size is set to 64 pixels x 64 pixels.
• To move the area or change the area size, refer to the
operations of the cropping frame (see page 59).
7. Click on .
• To get the Confirm Digital GEM effect image, the film will
be scanned according to the input resolution specified in
step 3.
• The image area specified in step 6 will be corrected
according to the value specified in step 5, and displayed
in the Digital GEM check image display area and the
correction result can be checked.
• The Confirm Digital GEM effect image can be enlarged
by clicking on the Full screen view button.
8. Repeat steps 5 to 7 if necessary and
specify the Digital GEM adjust value
so that an appropriate correction
result can be obtained.
