Virtual Router Group Configuration
The Virtual Router Group menu is used for associating all virtual routers into a single logical
virtual router, which forces all virtual routers on the
GbE Switch Module to either be master or
backup as a group.
A virtual router is defined by its virtual router ID and an IP address. On
each VRRP-capable routing device participating in redundancy for this virtual router, a virtual
router will be configured to share the same virtual router ID and IP address.
NOTEThis option is required to be configured only when using at least two GbE Switch Mod-
ules in a hot-standby failover configuration, where only one switch is active at any time.

Command Syntax and Usage
track
Displays the VRRP Priority Tracking Menu for the virtual router group. Tracking is an Alteon OS
proprietary extension to VRRP, used for modifying the standard priority system used for electing
the master router. To view menu options, see page 301.
vrid <virtual router ID (1-1024)>
Defines the virtual router ID.
The vrid for standard virtual routers (where the virtual router IP address is not the same as any
virtual server) can be any integer between 1 and 1024. All vrid values must be unique within the
VLAN to which the virtual router’s IP interface (see if below) belongs. The default virtual router
ID is 1.
if <interface number (1-127)>
Selects a switch IP interface. The default switch IP interface number is 1.
