Preparation
Confirmation of USB Type
If the computer is not compatible with USB2.0 and you use this drive connected
to a USB port of the computer, this drive can only deliver USB1.1 performance. If
you want USB 2.0 performance, it is necessary to purchase a USB2.0 interface
card (see p.61).
Refer to the computer manual to check which USB standard applies.
Windows XP / Windows 2000
USB Driver installation is not required.
Drive runs with standard USB driver included in OS.
Windows 98SE / Windows Me
For Windows Me, this drive can be operated with the OS standard
USB driver, but it is possible that malfunctions will occur. We recommend
you install the USB Driver supplied with this drive.
Install the supplied USB Driver.
Go to Installing UDF Reader on p. 27.
Using USB1.1
Go to Installing USB Driver on p. 24.
Setup Your Computer
Notes:
When the drive is connected with USB 1.1:
BWriting and reading speeds are about 8X at maximum.
BWhen playing a DVD-Video, frame-drops or block-noises may occur.
We recommend you use USB2.0 for writing to CD-R at 8X or higher,
re-writing to CD-RW and playing back DVD-Video.
If you use Windows 98SE / Windows Me, the USB Driver included on the
CD-ROM must be installed. Go to Installing USB Driver on p.24.
* If you use a Windows OS other than Windows 98SE / Windows Me, the USB
Driver installation is not required.
