Check the volume of your speakers.
Clean the CD-ROM disk.
Moisture condensation may have occurred. Leave the computer for at least 1 hour
while it is turned on.
I cannot play a DVD-ROM disk
If a region code warning appears when you are using the DVD player, it could be
that the DVD-ROM disk you are trying to play is incompatible with the DVD-
ROM drive in your notebook. The region code is listed on the disk’s packaging.
If you hear sound but cannot get a picture, your computer’s video resolution may
be set too high. For best results, change the resolution in Windows Control Panel/
Display/Settings to 800 x 600 using 8-bit color.
If you see the video but cannot hear any sound, check all of the following:
1 Make sure the mute setting is off in your DVD player.
2 Check the master volume setting in the audio Mixer. If you have connected
speakers externally, check the volume settings in your computer speakers and
check the connections between your speakers and the computer.
3 In the Device Manager, check that the DVD/CD-ROM drivers are installed
properly. To display the Device Manager, clickStart, pointtoSettings and click
Control Panel. Double-click the System icon. On the Hardware tab, click on the
Device Manager button.
A dirty or damaged disk may cause the computer to “hang” while it tries to read
the disk. If necessary, reboot the computer, remove the disk, and then check that it
is not dirty or damaged.
DVD Region Code Change
On your computer, the default
DVD region code is "2". Do not
change this setting using the
region code change function in
Windows
®
, or using any other
software applications. System
malfunctions originating from
the user changing the DVD
region code are beyond the
scope of your warranty and will
result in service charges for
repair.
