WindowsVista.Thecomputershouldautomaticallydetectthe1394device.Checkwhether
thedevicecantransmitdatatothecomputer.
Ifthedeviceisabletocommunicatewiththecomputer,theproblemmaybeintermittentor
connectionsmaybefaulty.GotoProcedure2.
Ifcommunicationisimpaired,theremaybeafaultyconnection.GotoProcedure3.
Procedure2 Diagnosticcheck
RuntheDiagnosticProgram,whichwillautomaticallyexecutetheIEEE1394Devicecheck.
RefertoChapter3.TestsandDiagnosticsformoreinformationPLSusewindows
application.
Ifanerrorislocated,gotoProcedure3.Ifanerrordoesnotoccur,the1394portis
functioningproperly.
Procedure3 Connectionandreplacementcheck
Thetransmissioncablemaybedamagedortheconnectionsmaybeloose.PerformCheck1:
Check1 MakesurethetransmissioncableisfirmlypluggedintoboththeIEEE1394-
compatibledeviceandtheIEEE1394portofthecomputer.Ifthecableis
connectedcorrectly,gotoCheck2.
Check2 MakesuretheIEEE1394portisfirmlysecuredtothesystemboardofthe
computer.Ifthemalfunctionpersists,gotoCheck3.
Check3 Thetransmissioncablemaybedamaged.Replacewithagoodcable.Ifthe
malfunctionpersists,gotoCheck4
