SELECTING AND CONNECTING A DIFFERENT ANTENNA
MODEL
The standard detachable antennas supplied with the Access Point 7250 are suitable for
a broad variety of environments. If you require a different type of antenna for the
Access Point 7250, several options are available by model number from the 3Com
Web site (www.3Com.com).
For each of the antenna models, you will need either a 6-foot accessory cable (model
3CWE480) or a 20-foot accessory cable (model 3CWE481) to provide the transition
from the SMA connector on the access point to the N-type connector on the antenna.
To ensure the physical safety of anyone near the antenna and to prevent damage to the
access point, follow the building codes for antenna installations in your area.

Note: Regulatory restrictions dictate that when this device is operational, the minimal
body-to-antenna distance is 1 Meter (3 Feet).
Important Notes:
• For FCC regulatory compliance reasons, in the United States, Canada, and other
countries governed by FCC guidelines, external antennas can only be used in an access
point operating temperature range of 15° C - 40° C (59° F - 104° F).
• If the access point is used with an external antenna you must also purchase an
antenna cable. For maximum efficiency, use the shortest antenna cable possible.
Antenna cables induce signal loss, which will limit the radiated power output and range
of the access point. Of the options available, we recommend the 3Com 6-foot Antenna
Cable (3CWE480).
