OptionalCopperEthernetCabling
Normally,onlythefibercableisusedtocarrynetworktraffictotheindoornetworkequipment.In
specialcases,itmaybenecessaryt ousea10/100BaseTcopperconnectio ntot heindoorequipment
(orotheroutdoornetworkequipment), inwhichcasespecialcaremustbetakentoprotectboththe
radiounitandtheindoorequipmentfromelectricalsurges.Surgesuppressorsarenotneededfor
temporaryco nnectionswhileinstallingortroubleshootingalinkwhenlightningisnotarisk.
1. InstallaCat5typeEthernetcablefromtheradiotothenetwo rkterminationequipment(switch
orrouterwith10/100BaseTport).Thecableshouldbeloopedaroundtheinsideofthe
enclosuretoprovidestrainrelief.ConnecttheEthernetcabletothesurgesuppressorplaced
within theradiohousingandthenconnectacablefromtheot herendofthesurgesuppressor
totheradio’s10/100BaseTport.
TheRJ45connectorfortheradioneedstobeinsertedseparately
fromthefiberand DC cablethroughthe¾inch conduitfittingon
theradio, as thereisinsufficientroomforalltofitthroughatthe
sametime.
2. Installasecondsurgesuppressoratthebuildingentrance/exit.ThismayrequiretheuseofRJ45
Female/Femalecoup lers.ConnectEthernetcabletothenetworkequipmentusedfornetwork
management.
