Chapter 1 Product Overview
Ports and Connectors
Ethernet Connectors
The AVS 3120 has four integrated 10/100/1000–megabit-per-second (Mbps) Ethernet connectors. The
Ethernet controller provides an interface for connecting to 10-Mbps, 100-Mbps, or 1000-Mbps networks
and supports autonegotiate, full-duplex, or half-duplex operation on an Ethernet LAN.
To access an Ethernet port, connect a Category 3, 4, or 5 unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable to one of
the RJ-45 connectors on the back of the chassis. The ports have different functions depending on how
the AVS software is configured. For details on port assignments, see the Release Note for the Cisco
Application Velocity System and the Cisco Application Velocity System User Guide.
Note The 100BASE-TX/1000BASE-TX Ethernet standard requires that you use standard four twisted-pair
Category 5e cable at lengths up to 328.08 ft. (100 m).
Figure 1-3 shows the four built-in Ethernet ports, which have two indicators per port.
