Installing a Port Adapter
Step 4 Carefully slide the new port adapter into the port adapter slot until the connector on the
port adapter is completely seated in the connector on the motherboard.
Step 5 Replace the screw in the rear of the port adapter slot. (See Figure 3-5 for its location.) Do
not overtighten this screw.
Step 6 Reinstall the VIP2 in the system. To do so, follow the steps in the section “Installing a
VIP2” in the configuration note Second-Generation Versatile Interface Processor (VIP2)
Installation and Configuration, which shipped with your VIP2.
Step 7 If the interface cables are disconnected, reconnect the interface cables to the port
adapters.
This completes the procedure for installing any type of port adapter on the VIP2. Proceed to
Chapter 7, “Installing PA-FE PortAdapter Interface Cables,”to connect the necessary cables to your
port adapter.
