When the front of the card is fully seated, the front plastic standoffs snap over the front edge of the
card.

Connect the two small RAC cables to the RAC card and the connectors on the system board.

Replace the center riser card. See "Expansion-Card Riser" on page 81.

Close the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 48.

Reconnect the system and peripherals to their power sources, and turn them on.

Optical Drive
The optional slimline optical drive is mounted on a tray that slides into the front panel and connects to the
controllers on the system board through the sideplane board.
NOTE: DVD devices are data only.
Removing the Optical Drive Tray
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from its electrical
outlet.

Remove the bezel. See "Removing and Replacing the Front Bezel" on page 47.

Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 48.

Remove the SAS controller daughter card. See "Removing a SAS Controller Daughter Card" on
page 56.

Disconnect the optical-drive cable from the back of the drive. See Figure 3-17.

To remove the optical drive, press forward on the blue tray release tab and slide the drive tray out of the
system. See Figure 3-17.
