Security
Option Description
Admin Password
This option provides restricted access to System Setup the same way access to the system is
restricted with the system password. The settings are as follows: Set and Not Set.
If the setting is Not Set, type a password and confirm it to enable this option.
If the setting is Set, a lock icon appears at the top-right corner of every screen in Setup.
NOTE:
To disable the password, type the old password and then press <Enter> twice to leave the
New and Confirm Password fields blank.
System Password
This field displays the current status of the password security feature and allows you to assign and
verify a new system password. The settings are Set and Not Set.
If the setting is Not Set, enter a password and confirm it to enable this option.
If the setting is Set, the computer does not boot until you enter the correct password.
NOTE:
To disable the password, type the old password and then press <Enter> twice to leave the
New and Confirm fields blank.
Internal HDD PW This field lets you set, change, or delete the password on the system's internal hard drive (HDD).
Password
Changes
This field controls the interaction between the system password and the Administrator password.
The settings are as follows:
Denied — You can modify or delete the system password may be without knowing the Administrator
password.
Permitted — A valid Administrator password is required to modify or delete the system password.
Default setting: Permitted
Wireless Switch
Change
This field controls lets you determine whether changes to the wireless switch settings are permitted
when an Administrator password is set. The settings are as follows:
Permitted — You can modify or delete the wireless switch settings without knowing the
Administrator password.
Denied — A valid Administrator password is required to modify or delete the system password.
Default setting: Denied
Wi-Fi Catcher
Change
This field lets you determine whether changes to the Wi-Fi catcher are permitted when an
Administrator password is set. The settings are as follows:
Permitted — You can modify or delete the Wi-Fi catcher settings without knowing the Administrator
password.
Denied — A valid Administrator password is required to modify or delete the system password.
Default setting: Denied
CPU XD Support
This field enables or disables the Execute Disable mode of the processor. The settings are as
follows:
Off — Do not enable the Execute Disable mode. When disabled, the BIOS forces the Execute
Disable bit capability extended feature bit to always return to zero capability.
Enabled — Enable the Execute Disable mode.
Default setting: Enabled
TPM Security
This field lets you control the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). The settings are as follows:
Off — The BIOS does not turn on the TPM at POST.
On — The BIOS turns on the TPM at POST so it can be used by the operating system.
TPM Activation
This field lets you control whether the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is deactivated or activated.
The settings are as follows:
Deactivate — The TPM is deactivated and does not execute commands.
Activate — The TPM is enabled.
Computrace®
This field lets you activate or disable the BIOS module interface of the optional Computrace
software.
Power Management
Option Description
Auto On
Mode
Determines what happens when AC power is restored to the computer. The settings are Off, On, and
Last.
Default setting: Off
