Health This field indicates the primary battery and the module bay battery status.
Date/Time This field displays current date and time settings.
Boot
Sequence
This field displays the sequence of devices the computer attempts to boot from:
Diskette or USB floppy disk drive
Internal hard drive
Onboard or USB CD-ROM drive
CD/DVD/CD-RW drive detected
Any other bootable add-in devices detected (listed in the order they are detected, with Onboard
Network Controller usually being detected first such as the modular bay hard drive, cardbus NIC, D-
Dock PCI slot NIC, and the onboard NIC)

Option Description

The Onboard Devices group contains options and settings related to integrated system devices. Depending
on the computer and its installed devices, the items listed in this section may or may not appear.
Fast IR
This field determines how the Fast IR serial port operates.
Default setting: Off
Integrated
NIC
This field enables or disables the onboard LAN controller.
Default setting: Enabled
Internal
Modem
This field enables or disables the onboard internal modem.
Default setting: Enabled
External
USB ports
This field enables or disables the external USB ports.
Default setting: Enabled
Parallel Port
This field determines how the parallel port on the docking station operates.
Default setting: ECP
Serial Port
This field determines how the integrated serial port operates. The settings are COM1, COM2, COM3, and
COM4.
Default setting: COM1
PC Card™
and 1394
This field lets you enable and disable the PC Card slot and the 1394 device.
Default setting: Enabled
NIC
Controller
You can set the NIC to On (default), Off, or On w/ PXE. When the On w/ PXE setting is active (available
only for the future boot process), the computer prompts you to press <Ctrl><Alt><B>. Pressing this key
combination causes a menu to display that allows you to select a method for booting from a network
server. If a boot routine is not available from the network server, the system attempts to boot from the next
device in the boot sequence list.
Default setting: On
Audio
Controller
This field enables or disables the onboard audio controller.
Default setting: On
USB
Controller
This field enables and disables the integrated USB Controller. Settings are Off, On, and No Boot.
Default setting: On
LPT Port
Mode
This field selects the mode of operation for the integrated parallel port. The settings are as follows:
Off — Disables the port.
AT — Configures the port for IBM.
PS/2 — Configures the port for IBM.
EPP — Enhanced parallel port protocol.
ECP — Extended capability port protocol.
Default setting: PS/2
LPT Port
Address
This option sets the address the built-in parallel port uses. The settings are 378h, 278h, and 3BCh.
Default setting: 378h
PS/2 Mouse
Port
This field enables or disables the integrated legacy PS/2-compatible mouse controller. The settings are Off
and On.
Default setting: On
Video
Option Description
Video
This field contains options and settings related to the video controller. The settings are ALS Enabled,
Brightness, Brightness (AC), LCD Panel Expansion, and Primary Video.
