Dell D620 Laptop User Manual

Modem Helper is a diagnostic utility designed to test the MDC modems in the Microsoft® Windows® environment. The
program is easy to use and incorporates many modem FAQs.
The initial portion of the diagnostics checks the registry for installed modems. Next, it finds the INF file being used for the
driver installation and verifies it was properly installed. Once this step is complete, Modem Helper checks if the associated
COM port can be opened; if so, it tests the phone line for a dial tone. If it detects a dial tone, then the HTML screens
instruct the customer to contact a Dell™ Remote Technician if connectivity problems are being experienced. If no dial tone
is found, the HTML screens notify the customer to run Modem Helper and display a hyperlink to start the diagnostic.
