ToinstallmoduleintotheMatrix E7 chassis,referto“BackplaneConnectionsandInstallation
Rules”(page 3‐3)tofamiliarizeyourselfwiththeFTM1andFTM2backplaneconnectionsandthe
modulehardwareinstallationrules. Thenproceedto“Preparation”(page 3‐6)tostartthe
installationprocess.

chassis,proceeddirectlyto“Preparation”
(page 3‐6)tostarttheinstallationprocess.
Preparation
1. Removetheblankpanelcoveringtheslotinwhichthemodulewillbeinstalled.Allotherslots
mustremaincoveredtoensureproperairflowforcooling.(Savetheblankplateintheevent
youneedtoremovethemodule.)
2. Removethemodulefromtheshippingbox.(Savetheboxandpacking
materialsintheevent
themoduleneedstobereshipped.)
3. Locatetheantistaticwriststrapshippedwiththechassis.Attachtheantistatic wriststrapto
yourwristandplugthecablefromtheantistaticwriststrapintotheESDgroundingreceptacle
attheupperrightcornerofthechassis.
4. Removethemodule
fromtheplasticbag.(Savethebagintheeventthemodulemustbe
reshipped.)ObserveallprecautionstopreventdamagefromElectrostaticDischarge(ESD).
5. Examinethemodulefordamage.Ifanydamageexists,DONOTinstallthemodule.
ImmediatelycontactEnterasysNetworks.Referto“GettingHelp”onpagexiv.
Caution: Failure to observe static safety precautions could cause damage to the module. Follow
static safety handling rules and wear the antistatic wrist strap.
Do not cut the non-conductive bag to remove the module. Sharp objects contacting the board or
components can cause damage.
Precaución: Si no toma las medidas de seguridad necesarias para evitar descargas de
electricidad estática, es posible que el módulo se dañe. Siga los consejos de seguridad para la
manipulación del producto y no olvide utilizar la pulsera antiestática.
