Overview of DFE-Diamond Module Shutdown Procedure
TheDFE‐DiamondmodulesinstalledinaMatrixE7,MatrixN3,orMatrixN7chassisare
interdependentandoperateunderasingleIPaddressasasingle,distributedswitchsystem
(hardware,databases,andpersistentstorage).Inthisoperatingenvironment,theDFE‐Diamond
modulemustshutdowninanorderlyfashionto
ensurethattheothermodulesinthesystemand
otherdevicesonthenetworkarenotifiedoftheimpendingchange.Thedevice(s)canthenmake
intelligentdecisionsandstabilizethenetworkbeforethechangeismade;therebyincreasing
networkavailability.
YoucanshutdownaDFE‐Diamondmoduleinanoperating
systemusingtheOFFLINE/RESET
switchshowninFigure 4‐2.Therearetwoshutdownprocedures.

module name, etc.)
were lost when the
module power was
cycled, the front
panel OFFLINE/
RESET switch was
pressed.

reset to factory default

Reenter the lost parameters as necessary. Refer to
the Enterasys Matrix DFE-Diamond/Platinum Series
Configuration Guide for the instructions to configure
the device.

for technical support.
