What is a “contract proof”?
A color, hard-copy representation of a
printed image that will be used to match to
the final printed piece. The word “contract”
comes from the fact that, when signed by
the client, a contract is formed, which states
that the final printed job should be a close
match to the contract proof.
Why is it important to use Epson
professional proofing media?
Epson professional proofing media has
a base color that approximates printing
stock to enable color-accurate proofs.
Why is it important to use Epson
genuine inks in your Epson proofer?
Epson ink cartridges produce superior image
quality, longer print life, greater reliability and
unbeatable value versus third-party ink
cartridges. Epson ink cartridges deliver
reliable and optimal print performance
because they are designed to work with

Prepress Proofers
Epson Stylus Pro professional prepress proofers
offer the perfect solution for fast, affordable,
accurate proofing. Our breakthrough new Epson
UltraChrome K3
inks with three levels of black,
combined with a new high-performance precision
print engine, deliver superior color accuracy and
stability for general proofing, imposition proofing
and even contract proofing applications.
Dead-on accurate color
New Epson UltraChrome K3 inks with high-density
pigments produce a wider color gamut that more
closely matches the inks used in the actual printing
process. It’s our most accurate ink technology ever.
So whether it’s spot color or 4-color process, you can
reproduce the most demanding “out-of-gamut”
colors, even colors you never thought you could hit
with an ink jet proofer.
Consistent color from
proof to proof, day after day
Epson UltraChrome K3 inks are significantly more
stable than other ink technologies. They dry faster
and are not prone to color shifting over time. They
deliver stable, repeatable color, proof after proof, with
no short-term color shifts

What is SWOP
®
Certified
and why is it important?
All Epson prepress proofers, when used
with select Epson professional proofing
media and their included ColorBurst
®
RIP,
are SWOP Certified.
††
But what exactly does this mean?
SWOP, or Specifications for Web Offset Publications, Inc., is an
industry organization that has developed a certification process for
ensuring the consistency and quality of printed materials. During
this rigorous process, SWOP experts check proofing systems for
conformance to their standards and monitor how closely the
systems’outputs match to SWOP Certified Press Sheets.
Once a system successfully passes
this inspection, it is deemed “SWOP
Certified.” Recognition as a SWOP
Certified proofing system proves that
the system is capable of producing
proofs that meet the requirements for
contract proofing and is recognized by
industry leaders as being able to
produce high-quality contract proofs.

Your Epson printer’s standby mode means you can leave your
printer turned on and still conserve energy. Plus, you’ll save on ink
that is used in the automatic cleaning cycle each time the printer
is turned on. If you decide to turn your printer off (because it won’t
be used for a week or longer), be sure to use the ON/OFF button
—not just the power strip—so that the heads get safely parked.
