computers and some other PCs have built-in
bidirectional parallel interfaces. You need to install an additional
one in these computers only if you use the built-in parallel
interface for your printer.
Install a SCSI board in your computer, if necessary. Then
connect the computer to the scanner’s SCSI connector as
described under “SCSI Setup” on page 1-8.

Macintosh

computer,
you do not need to install a SCSI board in your computer;
simply connect your scanner to your Macintosh’s built-in
SCSI port as described under “SCSI Setup” on page 1-8.
To use an interface correctly, you may need to change settings
on the scanner, computer, or both. The following sections
explain how to set up and connect each type of interface.
Connecting the Scanner to a Parallel Interface
To connect the scanner to a parallel interface on your computer,
use a standard shielded parallel interface cable and follow the
steps below.
Caution:
The scanner’s bidirectional parallel interface requires a
bidirectional interface on your computer. Check your
computer’s specifications to see if its built-in parallel interface
is bidirectional.
