1 SIM card slot
If your computer has a wireless WAN feature, it might require a Subscriber Identication Module (SIM) card
to establish wireless WAN connections. Depending on the country of delivery, the SIM card might be
already installed in the SIM card slot.
2 Battery
Use your computer with the battery power whenever ac power is unavailable.
You can use the Power Manager program to adjust your power settings as needed. For details, see the help
information system of the Power Manager program.
3 Port replicator or docking station connector
Depending on models, your computer might support one of the following port replicators or docking stations:
ThinkPad Port Replicator Series 3
ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3
ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3
ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus for Mobile Workstations Series 3 (170 W)
Connect your computer to the supported docking station to extend the computer capabilities when you
are in your ofce or at home.
4 Hard disk drive or solid state drive
Depending on models, your computer might have a large-capacity, customer-upgradable hard disk drive
that can meet a variety of storage demands.
If you wish, you can purchase another hard disk drive and install it in the Serial Ultrabay Enhanced bay.
Some models are equipped with a solid state drive for data storage, making your computer lighter, smaller,
and faster.
Note: The hidden service partition is the reason why there is less free space than expected on your hard
disk drive or solid state drive. This reduction is more noticeable on the solid state drive because of its
smaller capacity.
5 Memory-upgrade slot
You can increase the amount of memory in your computer by installing a memory module in the
memory-upgrade slot. Memory modules are available as options from Lenovo.
6 PCI Express Mini Card slot for wireless WAN card or mSATA solid state drive
Your computer might have a wireless wide area network (WAN) card installed in the PCI Express Mini
Card slot for wireless WAN connections.
For some models, an mSATA solid state drive might be installed instead of the wireless WAN card.
